Ella Johnson Library Hampshire IL Welcome!

The Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District serves a population of over 16,000 and covers an area of over 100 square miles. The district includes all of Hampshire Township, plus areas of Burlington, Plato and Rutland Townships.

LOAN PERIODS

The loan period on most materials is three weeks. Feature film DVDs are available for 2 days and nonfiction and educational DVDs are available for one week. Magazines are available for one week. There is a three day grace period for all print materials with the exception of interlibrary loans.

RENEWALS

Library materials are usually, but not always, renewable. Non-renewable items include all feature film DVDs, interlibrary loan materials, materials on reserve for another patron, and materials that have already been renewed once.

FINES

The fine for overdue DVDs is $1.00 per day, per item. The fine for all other overdue materials is $.10 per day, per item.

RESERVES

All library items may be reserved with the exception of magazines.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Material not owned by the Ella Johnson Library may be ordered through interlibrary loan. The library is a member of the Prairie Area Library System, which is the primary source for interlibrary loan material.

BOOK DROPS

The library provides books drops in four locations:
Hampshire – to the right of the library entrance.
Burlington – in front of the Post Office.
Pingree Grove – in front of the Fire Station & in front of the Cambridge Lakes Community Center

COMPUTER SERVICES

The Internet, word processing and spreadsheet software is available on library computers. Registration at the circulation desk is required. Internet users must present a valid card issued by the Ella Johnson Library or pay a $2.00 user fee. An express machine is available by non-cardholders free of charge for a limited time period of 15 minutes.

The library also has a free wireless network available. Patrons must bring their own wireless-enabled laptop computer or other wireless device to the Library to use the service. The Library does not loan laptops, wireless cards, or PDAs.

COPYING AND FAXING


The library charges $.10 per page for copies ($.20 for a double sided copy).
The library charges $.50 per page to send or receive faxes.
The library charges $.50 per page for color copies.

OTHER SERVICES

Notary Service
Voter Registration
Tax Forms (February 1 to April 15).
Drop off location for the Burlington-Hampshire Food Pantry.
Video Magnifier for the visually impaired is available for use at the library.
Microfilm/Fiche Reader is also available for the public to use at the library.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS


The library is closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, the Sunday during Coon Creek Days, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve.
