The Board of Trustees of the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District is looking for a proactive and approachable new Director. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of emerging technologies and understand the steps necessary for successful project planning and completion. They must also provide the proper setting for the development and evaluation of talented, customer-friendly employees.
The Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District covers 100-square miles stretching from the edge of Kane County on the west to South Elgin on the east and from the edge of McHenry County on the north to Campton Hills on the south. The Library District proudly serves the residents of Burlington, Hampshire, and Pingree Grove from a building in downtown Hampshire. It is a large, rapidly growing district with small-town appeal. Priorities for the leader in this role include enhancing relationships with the partner municipal governments, assisting the Board in developing its next long-range plan, and promoting services to all potential patrons.
The Library employs 17 staff members, with a budget of over $1.5 million. The Executive Director reports to a 7-member, elected Board of Trustees. Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and at least 5 years of related work and 3 years of supervisory experience. This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary starting at $85,000.00, based on qualifications and experience.
